Our commitment to privacy

Helping Women Now powered by Dress for Success Canada Foundation is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information of its full/part-time permanent or contracted employees, clients, volunteers, donors, and service delivery partners; herein referred to as associates.  

Personal information is highly sensitive and is collected under implied consent.

Helping Women Now hosts its own services directly, via third-party service providers, or on the cloud. Information may also be stored on devices owned by associates. All associates agree to our Non-Disclosure Undertaking and Code of Conduct.  

Each of these third-party tools has its own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. It may not be reasonable to expect that all service users will comprehend the various types of data processing, which include data collection, retention, use, and disclosure.

Other purposes of information collection and management include creating promotional material, writing of impact reports, formulating user experience stories, and collecting feedback.

Privacy Policy

This policy sets out Helping Women Now powered by Dress for Success Canada Foundation’s commitment to privacy. It governs all of its interactions with associates, in-person and online. 

Accountability

Dress for Success Canada Foundation is responsible for the personal information under its control. We have appointed a Privacy Officer to ensure compliance with Canadian privacy legislation.  This policy will be reviewed annually by the Dress for Success Canada Foundation Board of Directors and amended as required.

Purposes of data collection

Dress for Success Canada Foundation commits that service user data is:

  • Protected,
  • Held in confidence, and
  • Accessed by individuals who offer support to service users

Anonymized service user data will be analyzed, to improve services and to create aggregate data for statistical analysis.

Consent

Dress for Success Canada Foundation implements a privacy framework which complies with federal and provincial privacy legislation. Accordingly, associates’ knowledge and consent are required for the collection, use, or disclosure of personal information, except where inappropriate.

Clients agree that Dress for Success Canada Foundation will receive data transmitted in the course of service interactions for the purposes of providing users with personal support.

By using Dress for Success Canada Foundation applications and services, associates agree and consent to the collection, retention, use, and disclosure rules listed in this Privacy Policy.

Limiting use, disclosure and retention  

Dress for Success Canada Foundation will limit the collection of personal information to the intended purposes covered by this policy.

Dress for Success Canada Foundation will collect demographic data in keeping with our commitment to diversity and inclusion in order to better meet the needs of our associates.

Associates’ information will not be disclosed except in accordance with Dress for Success Canada Foundation’s legal obligations to report as required by law.
