I Want to Help

Women in your community need your support right now

Local women are bearing the brunt of this ‘she-cession’.

2.8 million women without the work they need.

These numbers speak to thousands of individual and family stories of hardship, struggle and real pain.

That’s why Dress for Success Vancouver has launched Helping Women Now.

And we need your help.

Here are some ways you can support women now:

  • Donate to Helping Women Now
  • Volunteer your time and skills
  • Facilitate a workshop
  • Professional Clothing Donation (temporarily closed)

Thank You

Volunteer your time and skills

Do you want to support local women during this critical time?

We have lots of opportunities for you to give your time and skills.
If you can offer only an hour or more of your time each week to help women in need, we will provide you with the training, tools and support necessary to virtually connect with our clients.

We’re especially interested in recruiting volunteers who can speak with clients in languages other than English, or who have past experience in human resources or working with women in need.

Are you able to volunteer?

  1. Do you have access to a video conference compatible device (computer, iPhone, Android, iPad, etc.) and stable wifi?
  2. Are you able to use Zoom? Dress for Success will provide a Zoom account to use during all sessions and train you on the safe use of the program.
  3. Are you willing to go through a short telephone interview and a 40 minute training session on best practices (held every Tuesday and Saturday)?

If you answered yas to all the above, here are some of our volunteer opportunities available:

1. Peer support
In this role, you will be providing support to women through virtual “coffee chats”. During these calls, clients will have the opportunity to ask about community resources or just have important social connection while we all practice physical distancing.

2. Government services assistance (for Certified Human Resources Professionals)
Are you a qualified CHRP looking to donate your skills?

This is a great opportunity to help women who may need extra support as they begin the application process for federal and provincial government programs. We are working with Service Canada to provide in-depth training that will prepare you for these one-on-one appointments.

3. Online Workshops
Are you an instructor, facilitator or coach who would be interested in donating your services to our community? We are looking for qualified volunteers to lead group sessions on health, wellness, personal and professional development. If you’re not sure if your idea is a good fit, email programs@dfsvancouver.org and someone from our team will be in touch.

4. Post Appointment Client Outreach volunteer
Must be comfortable using your own phone (instructions will be made available on how to block your call display on your iPhone/Android!).

Do any of these interest you? Please fill out our form here and someone from our team will be in touch within one business day.
